Looking down from the Alpine Visitors' Center along Trail Ridge Road, one can see several different ecological niches, from tundra, through alpine meadow, pine forest, to riverine bottom all within a mile or so. These are deer browsing along the edge of the pond, with some elk cows grazing nearby in the bushes. Taken in late afternoon, probably around 4:30.
